Travels to Davao Philippines
The Philippines is one of the most unique and colorful nation in the Southeast Asia Region. The archipelago consists of more than seven thousand islands, of which eight hundred are inhabited. The major islands are Luzon in the north, the Visayas in the center, and Mindanao in the south. Philippines itself has a lot of culural sights that you as a traveller should not miss. English is widely spoken in the Philippines, and most signs are in English so Singapore travellers and tourists need not worry about getting lost.
Touring Davao. Davao is strategically located at the Davao Gulf in Southern Mindanao Island. It's capital, Davao City is also the infocomm hub of Philipppines. Called Silicon Gulf, it has been devloped to house the country's information and telecommunication centres and universities. It is also one of the fastest growing region in Philippines. Davao continues to be the top exporter of Region XI exporting to major world markets such as Japan, the United States of America, the Middle East, and Europe. Davao really has it all - cultural interludes,
beautiful beaches,
fascinating dive spots, and myriad opportunities to commune with nature. This is a place where you won't want to miss visiting.
Durians! Durians! Durians! During the
durian season, you can taste the wonderful fruit in the stalls in front of
Magsaysay Park. There is also a Durian Festival held in September where you can indulge yourself uncontinuously of it's luscious pulp.
You can visit the Philippines Eagle Nature Center at the Eastern part of the island. The forest area is the sanctuary for the largest eagle in the world and Philippine's national bird, the
Philippines Eagle. This eagle is also known as the
monkey-eating eagle. They prey mostly on monkeys, but lately they have been observed feeding on flying lemurs (caguang), wild cats (musang), and flying squirrels (tapilac) in Mindanao. Usually the male does the hunting, sharing his catch with the female and the young, especially during the breeding time. The trip to the Nature Center is around 45 minutes from Davao City.
The Malagos Garden Resort. This 12-hectare garden resort is filled with tall trees and a beautiful orchid farm. It has a restaurant, petting zoo, National arts, butterfly sanctuary, horseback riding , fishponds, golf driving range, swimming pool, adventure playground, seminar halls, campsite, and cottages. The Malagos Garden Resort is dedicated to the protection and conservation of the environment through in its various attractions and activities you can find there.
You should also visit
Eden Nature Park & Resort located at 2,500 feet above sea level. This mountain resort reservation offers a cool climate, lush forest, and natural surroundings, overlooking the city and the gulf. You can enjoy camping, nature hiking, bird watching, and horseback riding.
